You'll probably be able to buy new computers with Windows 7
pre-installed as an optional alternative to Windows 8 for quite some
time. Most corporate IT departments are in no hurry to start
supporting the new OS and will probably put it off (and thereby keep
Windows 7 available as an installed option) for as long as they can.

When we first moved to Boston 3 years ago Lisa had to get a laptop
with XP installed because her IT department wasn't supporting Windows
7 yet! They've just moved to Windows 7 in the past year or two.
