I thought of that, but it would likely make my first 8 hours of having the machine pure hell, and even more hellish if I can't find the right drivers, if they're different between 7 & 8. That's unless it comes pre-configured with 7. > you can still buy 17" MacBook Pro refurbs from Apple (with a full warranty); > the selection varies: > > <http://store.apple.com/us/browse/home/specialdeals/mac/macbook_pro/17> > > i used to think i'd want a 17" laptop, but i find even 15" (pre-Retina) a bit > much to carry, and would recommend an iMac if i you don't really expect to > move > it much; i plug my laptop into a 24" display when not on the move I've had two 17" Win laptops and while heavy, like the large work space. Most of my photo-editing is done away from my desktop because 1) my office is a mess and 2) I usually do it when on the road. Now with Retina display, there's probably no way I'd choose less unless it was with a 1920 x 1080 display I feel in the Microsoft-punishing mindset at the moment. :) Thanks.
