Walt -
I used the Windows Movie Maker to get the avi's translated...
it is pretty easy I think it ws Rob S who turned me on to it...
The ones I shot with the old Canon A80 are very low quality
but those I took later, with the SX120 blow up a bit better.
I looked at your smug mug opening page -- don't see any vids
direct link?

I can open these avi's in QT but my version doesn't allow saving them
again. I will ask my son what version of IMovie he has. It may need
upgrading.

I shot a movie for a friend that I now need to edit and add sound.
Unfortunately my PC has limited abilities with Microsoft Movie Maker.
My son has an IMAC and the movie capabilities of IMovie look great,
exactly what I need. Unfortunately it won't work with AVI files that
my E-PL2 shoots.
Is there a program that will convert the files to the ones that IMovie can use?
Walter,
Hmm. iMovie '11 has no difficulty importing and editing Motion JPEG
.AVI file from my Olympus E-5. Similarly, Final Cut Express v4 has no
problem with it.
I can't imagine that the Motion JPEG .AVI file from the E-PL2 is
anything different from that ... ?
If you put a short .AVI file somewhere I can get to it, I'd be happy
to give it a try. You can upload an example into the "whamler" folder
at
http://public.mac.com/ramarren
if you'd like. Please send an email to me at "godfreydigiorgi at me
dot com" when you do so.
