why not two DVD-RW drives then?

or if the computer has a USB or Firewire port, buy a cheap used external
from Craigslist -- decent Firewire DVD-RWs are around $25-30 used here,
and USB cheaper (i RIP CDs with an external because my server's internal
drive is shot)

No reason other than I want this system to have a CD-RW and a DVD-RW and for both of them to be internal. I don't really *need* two drives, I just want two drives, and I don't care for them to be exactly the same.

For one thing, internal drives don't risk getting knocked off the desk or buried under whatever magazine/newspaper/etc I happen to be reading right now. The box is also sitting far enough away from the desk that I'd have a hard time spilling coffee into it.

If I can't find a replacement CD-RW, I might get a BlueRay player/DVD-RW combo. Player, because the motherboard/CPU/memory don't meet the minimum requirements for a BlueRay burner and I'm trying to minimize what I spend upgrading a non-tax deductible computer.
