My setup is this, John:

NAD 320 for amplifier
A pair of Mission M71s for speakers
Pioneer 575 for the player.

The sound quality is good (to my ears), the resilience of this system is outstanding. It has already survived Galia and it is likely to survive Anat. There was a period of time when Galia would watch movies from DVD/VCD at least couple of hours every day. So far so good.

I don't fancy modern multi-speaker arrangement, mostly because I rent a flat and moving such a thing will be major PITA. The simple system such as this is easy to move and I find it totally satisfactory. Whichever part breaks down, I am likely to start looking for replacement simply by finding out what NAD, Mission or Pioneer have to offer in the same spec/price/market category.

HTH.
