I don't find the subject matter all  that interesting, but for me, I think 
you came closest with this  one.

Looks like a  little soldier. Too close to the bottom of the frame, rather 
see it a tad closer  up, more dramatic, maybe with a great sky. Maybe move low 
enough, close enough  so more separation between it and trees  with it's head 
more against the  sky.

Just my .02. But I think you need, like Jack said, either a  telephoto with 
more DOF, or a macro lens to make it more appealing.
