Oh wise nerds on the PDML, lend me your smartz,
I have an old AMD K6-2 computer here. I'm using it as a file storage
box but my transfer speed is like 5-8 Mbps (ugh). The motherboard's NIC
is a 10/100 version so it should be faster. Somebody suggested the
bottleneck is likely to be my motherboard's antiquated IDE interface
(non UDMA). Since I have open PCI slots, could I get a IDE controller
card (like $12) and enjoy the breezy speeds of the PCI bus?
What say ye?
