I don't see how a bunch of people walking around a nature preserver
area, already paved, is in danger from the state of NC. But then
again, i have no experience with the US Parks.
I could see the camping for the two weekends stopped, but maybe Crae
and family might keep that.
Based on the precedent established in the takeover of Chimney Rock and
it's inclusion into the Chimney Rock State Park, I don't think y'all got
anything to worry about.
The Morton family are forming a non-profit corporation to continue
operating the "developed" part of Grandfather Mountain - the mile high
bridge, animal habitats and other existing attractions - in the way it's
been operating for years.
This is mainly a deal to KEEP Grandfather Mountain the way it is. It
brings a lot of tourism dollars into NC, so why would the state want to
screw that up?.
All of the special programs at Grandfather Mountain, including the
photography weekends, mean a lot of money to NC; more than just the few
dollars you spend inside the park.
