I would rate it as relatively good build quality. But the front  
element extends quite a lot at 16mm (the reverse of most lenses).  
That kind of arrangement always feels a bit unsteady.  The build  
quality doesn't match the DA* version, but it's better than consumer  
zooms. And you're right. It's not weather sealed. Image quality is  
very good however.
