The D3's got a DX auto-crop mode which brings it down to 5.4MP or so,
you can also manually select it as a 'Digital zoom' (The viewfinder is
auto-masking, so this sortof makes sense). It's also got a 5:4 10MP
crop mode which also uses the auto-masking feature of the viewfinder.
But at full rez, it's 12MP.
