Surprised you didn't recognize that it speaks to the discipline
disparity between styles.
You have to recognize that there is a different set of skills attendant
to a varying array of styles.
Some subjects require more discipline in rendering an intended image
with the intended effect.
The relevance is that contrary to your message to Tom, all
photographers are NOT doing the same thing.
Seems clear to me.

Actually, I think they are, Jack.

Different sets of skills does not necessarily mean that one set of skills is
better than another set of skills. And the skills may be very similar, more
similar than they appear. Godfrey is very careful in his compositions when he
does minimalism. Tom seems to be equally careful in his compositions when he
does landscapes.

Having seen Godfrey's pictures in real life (not a minimalism show --
Britian after/before Isle of Man) I could tell he is very deliberate in what
he
does. I felt that show was excellent. He also shoots a wide variety of things:

people, street scenes, and minimalism.

I also don't believe Tom arrives at so many outstanding landscapes by pure
happenstance either. It is not just due to where he lives. Many could live in
the same beauty still not be able to produce so many good photos from it.
Also his recent city scenes showed he carries the same skills over to the
urban
area.

<Shrug> Different strokes for different folks, we don't all like the same
things. For myself, I like a wide variety of photographic subjects and styles.

Personally, what I am impressed by most is by creativity then craftsmanship.

The trend of this thread disturbs me, and I hope it doesn't continue to
degrade.

I sort of like it, Godfrey, but something, the rendition, the closeness,
almost makes it look over sharpened to my eye. I am sure it had that texture,
but it almost looks overdone. Not sure I can explain what I mean.
