I recall that when i had zooms (my first two lenses were the infamous sigma 28-105 and a cheap, but very sharp vivitar 70(75?)-200) i found them very uncomfortable to carry around, and whenever i focused i always ended up using them at either the shortest or the longest focal end. I think thats what got me into primes in the first place..
