Actually, the word means something like "divine wind" and was meant to
recall the memories of a storm that sunk an entire hostile fleet from
invading Japan almost 1000 years ago. The Japanese military hoped for a
similar miracle to save Japan in the end of WWII, and used the word to
inspire the suicide flight missions.

Here in Sweden we are also in deep shock about what has happened today, and
my thoughts go to all of you fellow Americans everywhere.

I assume it means something like suicide mission in Japanese. Japanese
used "kakikaze" pilots during WWII to attack US ships. Suicide missions
for pilots.
