As I promised last month, I comment on some of the PUG entries. At first sight I was glad that I found different interpretations of the theme "Close" and not only the obvious macro shots. A big "thanks" to Adelheid for her work!
Descent to Saturn ----------------- needs the explanation for me to see what it is, an interesting different view. Why do I think of some kind of milkshake watching it ;-) Intimacy -------- my favorite interpretation of "close" is the relationship between humans. I like the look of the child and the smile of his father (?) but the picture lacks quality wise for me and has a yellow cast here on my monitor. Tereza and Blaze ---------------- A caring moment but the picture is technically too imperfect for me. Grandpa ------- The expression on the faces of Grandpa and the child make the photo for me. Looks like a snapshot with the usual technical shortcomings regarding background and framing Must be nice to have a grandpa like that! Friends at school ----------------- a really refreshing and well composed picture of friendship , I like that a lot. Maybe changing the background a bit... but you knew that already ;-) Close as you can get -------------------- romantic lightning and very nice gesture. My favorite children shot of closeness! The softness and slightly oof does not disturb me here. Close friends ------------- a well seen moment here. I like the light on the hair and the pose. Seems to have some unnatural brown/yellow coloring and I would crop the picture to upright format. Home for the Holidays --------------------- Knowing the story helps because otherwise it could well be just a staged shot. The white hat and other clothes are interesting details as well as the people in the background. I like the frame too ;-) /^ --- An interesting title! I like the softness and the colors and the angle of the flower a lot. I give preference to more unusual interpretations of the theme "close" than a close-up shot, but otherwise it is very well done. Water Lilies ------------ Nice colors and technically well executed. I like the composition too. I would have liked a "wi(l)der" interpretation of the theme "close". This is a beautiful flower shot but I do not see "the story". more tomorrow greetings Markus >> >>The July PUG is available on my website AND on the komkon server. >> >>http://www.kirschten.de/PUG/05jul >> >>and http://pug.komkon.org >> >> >>Cheers >>Adelheid >>
