current sensor density has already risen. the Nikon D2X has twice the pixel density of the *istD and at least as good noise characteristics at the same ISO. there is still a ways for Pentax to go. the *istD sensor density already is beyond most consumer lenses ability to deliver information. so i don't have to expect anything, it's already been done. it's whether Pentax ever ships anything that uses it that is the question.

Pixel density is a chimera. Sensor size at the current density is a much better solution. Much more expensive however. I'm much too tired and lazy to do the math. You're still limited by the sensor. Which doesn't invalidate my assertion. Unless you expect better results with in camera processing to remove the noise.
