I couldn't find the Takumar-F 28-80/3.5-4.5 that I own this morning to compare. I remember it being really really loose though. The SMC-FA 28-70/4 has the worst manual focus feel of any of my FA lenses (35/2, 50/1.7 are the other two) but it is at least usable. I got the Takumar-F thrown in with a ME Super that I bought many years ago and the manual focus was nearly unusable on that camera because it was so loose. The DA 16-45/4 has the best manual focus feel of any of my autofocus lenses, but I've never used an FA* lens. alex
