I think you are right. As I remember, Tamron and Pentax developed their AL 
technology together. They used resin instead of glass to lower the cost. 
Since resin cannot stand the heat of the coating process, quite possible AL 
elements are not SMC. This may also explain why the FA*24/2 is not that 
flare resistance. Just a guess.
