Actually I'm a little surprised Mark Cassino didn't step in on this.
I remember a post of him a long time ago when he started experimenting
with flash. He said he'd read (or somebody told him) a flash wouldn't
hurt 'em. His words were like "...don't believe them when they say this:
they do.". The story made me laugh but he reported he'd made a small
bird (I don't remember which) fall from the branch he was perched on
dazed by the flashlight.
