The Soundlink Air - I think you're referring to - costs about the same or it least it did when I bought mine 8 months ago.
Regardless of Soundlink Air or Soundlink III, both get very good reviews. In the case of the Soundlink III, its persistently rated as the best performing Bluetooth speaker on the market.
