Hello,
I am gonna way in on this subject for what it's worth.
When you shut down blind people in this manner, you are in a way insulting them. Just as what was said in an earlier post, sighted people assess information on their computers by what they see. Us blind people, don't have a choice but to assess information by reading brail or by listening to it.
In the latter case, our ears are our eyes.
If you take away a blind person's ability to hear, you take away his/her ability to see.
That's what screen readers do for us.
This is my opinion for what it's worth, but in order for this list to be a true PC AUDIO list, you need to broaden your view of things because your views are a little too narrow.
 John.

This is good advice; Tom would make his life easier by identifying himself
as the moderator when making these decisions. Because he hasn't checked in
since this post, I'll confirm that he is the moderator. There isn't a better
one out there. For what it's worth, I agree that a question about how JAWS
works with IE8 isn't right for this list. The answer, as implied by another
lister and that would be given more appropriately on a JAWS list, is that
this particular error message in IE8 indicates that the user needs to
upgrade JAWS.

Are you the moderator of the list Tom, and if so, were you speaking as the
moderator? If that's the case, then I'd suggest you identify yourself as
such when making such a statement. Otherwise, you might just be taken as a
moderator want to be and either ignored or criticized. That's just my
advice.

BTW, I agree that the post in question was off topic, and I don't have any
problem with you pointing that out. As you know though, PC audio is a pretty pervasive topic, so I think a lot of leniency is called for on such a list, and in general, I think it's been a pretty lenient list. I don't have a lot
of patience though for people who think absolutely everything is fair game
for this list just because I use a screen reader which happens to use my
sound card. Ditto for people who won't submit to moderation.

The subject is related to Internet Explorer and a screen reader. Internet
Explorer is an Internet browser and not a piece of audio software.

I respectfully disagree with you. If Sam is hearing something and talks
about what he is hearing, is it then not related to something audio?
