Ah, OK. I understand. It wasn't my intention to challenge your personal
experience. My experience agreed with the web site, namely I had the
latest FW on my player, and I didn't need to do anything special to
access the bookshelf mode on my player. I'm curious, what special
bookshelf firmware did you have to install? I've only ever seen the
firmware listed on the NLS site.

Hello Chris,
I did do that after putting a couple of books on an LNS cartridge.
But I found that not to be the case.
And so I had to download the Bookshelf firmware and install it on the
player.
In spite of the fact that they tell you this on their website, it's
not always true.
I'm telling you this from my own personal experience, that's what I
had to do.
John.

There is no special book shelf firmware, and if you'd had the latest
version of the firmware, you shouldn't have had to do anything.
Here's what it says at the BARD Talk FAQ at
http://www.bardtalk.com/faq.php:
4. How can I access the player's bookshelf feature and why is this
not mentioned in the built-in user guide?
Answer: The bookshelf feature was added with firmware version 2.1.0
and the built-in user guide has not been updated to discuss this
feature. First, make
sure your player's firmware is version 2.1.0 or higher using the
method discussed in FAQ 5. To access the bookshelf, hold down the
Play key until the player
announces "Bookshelf" and the number of books on your media and the
current book number selected. To move to another book, use the
Forward and Rewind keys
on the standard player and the Next and Previous keys on the advanced
player. When located at the desired book, press Play to start reading.

High Tom,
Yes, that is the latest firmware update.
Mine came with that version of firmware on it already.
The only firmware installation I had to do is, download and install
the Bookshelf firmware.
That was the only thing that was wrong with mine.
My best regards.
John.

Hello Adrian and list: Just experimented a little with the
"On-off" switch after reading your post; I have a cartridge in
there at the moment and..it works just as yours does! Perhaps I
didn't quite have the right touch on that button! As for the
Firmware..I've checked that out..and it is 2.1.3; is this the
latest one?
