Hi Brian. You might want to consider using MP3 Gain. The program is free and it's the best that I know of for normalizing files. With it, you can normalize an entire folder. All aspects of the program can be accessed with a screen reader.

Subject: how can I normalize a bunch of files?

Hi,
I have a large collection of mp3 files I want to normalize, so they can be used in a selv playing environment. It's required that the volume of the files is about equal.
can easy cd-da extracter do this, or do I need other tools?
also a more detailed description of how exactly I can do this.

Best regards
Brian
