Ditto on owning a battery company, although you can do pretty well
with some of the nickel-metal-hydride (NIMH) rechargeables.

I wouldn't trust my $400-plus investment to something with a soft case
and a carrying handle.  In fact, I wish the Edirol case were a bit
better padded, almost like the old Braille 'n' Speak cases.  The
problem is, any case you put the thing into will impede its ability to
record well.  Those built-in microphones like wide open space around
them.  Any cushioned case you put it into will deaden whatever sound
comes near.  Of course, if you're using external microphones, then
this doesn't count.
