That's pretty much true, but I wish the onboard microphones could be
positioned or angled a little bit.  Most stereo single-point source
mics I've worked with have their pickups mounted at least 30 degrees
apart, so nothing is facing dead front.  You get a wider stereo field
that way.

That's a new one on me.   I'll see what I can find out from others who
use such things in their cameras and things.
