Regarding my questions about the aesthetics of earrings that face sideways
and applying clear nail polish on the unfolded paper, Judith Powell said
the direction isn't an issue and she recommended some other products over
nail polish due to its solvents. Dee (FOLD), also answered that the
direction isn't an issue and suggested brushing lightly and not to stay for
too long in one spot. Finally, Miranda (Mizu-randa), replied that the back
of the model should also look attractive in case it flips, and she agreed
with Judith about there being better products since clear nail polish is
pretty aggressive.

Thanks to your answers I remembered I had a PVA wood sealant, so I'm
testing it for origami earrings. I'm making the fold, undoing it
completely, then I'm applying the chemical (two thin layers), and redoing
it once its totally dry. I'm happy with that process since I'm just making
this for fun, I assume it would be a big waste of time if I had to make
dozens.

I also tested applying clear nail polish over leftover pieces of paper. It
looks good. I also think it would be better for redoing the fold since, in
the folding process, I have to slide a tip against a layer and with the PVA
sealant the paper gets this rubber-like texture so it doesn't slide so
good. That doesn't seem to happen with the nail polish.

Reading your answers, my biggest concern now is the duration of the paper
if I decided to use nail polish. Judith mentioned it could damage the
paper. Does any of you know how exactly will the paper be damaged with nail
polish? What will happen to it over time? Might any of you have an old fold
with clear nail polish? How long ago was the chemical applied? How's the
paper after all this time?

Thank you for all your help : )
