I used this: https://community.openvpn.net/openvpn/wiki/HOWTO#IncludingmultiplemachinesontheclientsidewhenusingaroutedVPNdevtun And did the steps outlined there and it all works! :-) I have a test setup where the offsite router is actually at home but connected to a different fiber box connection so it is elsewhere on the Internet. Then I have put one of my many Raspberries on that router too. When I started the router it connected just fine to my home OpenVPN server using the ccd entry for the client as outlined in the how-to. And then when I started the RPi I got the report it always sends on startup where I can see the external IP address (different from my main router's external address!). Now I could both ping and ssh to that RPi from my Windows PC and the RPi could ping devices on my home LAN too. So it *is* running bidirectional comm, both LAN:s are connected as a single LAN with two IP ranges. Thanks again for your pointer to the best document I have yet seen on OpenVPN. Earlier I had only found and bookmarked this Howto: https://openvpn.net/community-resources/how-to/ That is not nearly as good as the new one you linked to!
