My version is 5.001, and it has the same problems (and, in addition to
Tom's fix, it needs a "no strict" before the last-but-one line).
In my opinion, it would be a *very* bad idea to require that every OpenSSL
user must have perl 5.004, especially if it is just for syntactic
extravagancies in a configure script.
