Not quite true. As someone who has been using Solaris (my first UNIX ever) since the 2.5 days, I think I have a decent understanding of Solaris's strengths and weaknesses. To just honk the Solaris horn the whole time would be nothing but blind Solaris zealotry, and I do believe myself to be above that - I want Solaris to become what Solaris can truly be - and that means assimilating that which has already been solved, and not just throwing good work away because it wasn't invented at Menlo Park. That's not a very practical approach. Having written that, I would be happiest if IRIX and Solaris were merged into one - the best solutions from both operating systems assimilated into a single, hybrid UNIX System V. (IRIX is also a System V UNIX.) In fact, I am not the only one to dream that dream; many sysadmins have dreamt of merging all the best solutions and technologies from all the major UNIXes since decades.
