Hello, A few 'desktop distro engineers/maintainers' are now migrating their Illumos-based or OpenSolaris/OpenIndiana-based distros to the newer releases of Xorg's Xserver 1.12 provided by the X consolidation from Oracle.
The main stable X11 7.7 release is: Xserver 1.12.2 (32-bit & 64-bit binaries) As for desktop environments: The new JDS/GNOME 2.30.x binary refresh is maintained by Milan Jurik at: http://pkg.opensolaris.cz (updated: 2012-12-30 ) Xfce 4.10 is maintained and provided through the SFE project: https://hg.openindiana.org/upstream/spec-files-extra/ KDE 4.8.4 was maintained and provided through the KDE4 for OpenSolaris project: http://solaris.bionicmutton.org/ A few things you should know: 1. Nvidia 304.64 - use this driver if you still want to maintain hardware using legacy Nvidia 6000/7000-based GPU products. 2.
