The difference in behaviour is with respect to on which Page U/D keys are pressed, those in the numpad or the other ones. And indeed both return different keycodes. The Page keys in the numpad return the usual behaviour (coincident with space/backspace). The individual page keys now move to the beginning of the previous/next page.
