The Queens County Bird Club Inc. will be meeting
at the Alley Pond Environmental Center http://www.alleypond.com/
at 8pm on Wednesday September 21
{ the third Wednesday of the month}

Our Speaker will be Shaibal Mitra PhD.
Assistant Professor of Biology - College of Staten Island

Gulls are widespread, abundant, and diverse in New York State, making them appealing subjects for study. But this group presents many challenges for birders because related species are often extremely similar, and because of age?related variation within species. This talk will focus on strategies for finding gulls using clues relating to habitat and season, and on techniques for recognizing not only the scarcer species, but also the commoner species whose plumage variations pose difficulties for birders.
