Date: Monday, 27 September 2010 (lunch hour) Location: Bryant Park Reported by: Ben Cacace
A steady rain, heavy at times, kept the crowds away. The # of species seen was above average for the park but lower than usual for the past few weeks. Warbler species were at 3 with the male American Redstart not seen in the SE storage area. It may've been keeping a low profile. The female RUBY-THROATED HUMMINGBIRD (its outer tail feathers were tipped with white) was feeding on a yellow colored salvia-type plant in the garden bordering the north edge of the Great Lawn near its east edge. It fed on a purple variety shortly after. Salvia is planted along both border gardens. I've seen a Ruby-throated Hummingbird once before on 8-Oct-2007.
