I have a patch that seems to work for me on my laptop. i.e on oper down it deletes the controversial routes added by the kernel and on oper up it adds back those routes. I am not going to release this patch - until we get to some consensus. Anyone wanting to try it out against 2.6.15-rc1 contact me privately; if i get too many requests i will post it.
