Remove an old hack that prevented binding to 127.x.x.255 addresses on Linux. The hack was intended to work around a bug in the JCK that assumed that 127.x.x.255 addresses are used for broadcasting and must not be bindable.
Added 2 new tests that fail on Linux without the fix, pass with the fix. Tier1, tier2, JCK java.net and java.nio tests continue to pass. --------- - [x] I confirm that I make this contribution in accordance with the [OpenJDK Interim AI Policy](https://openjdk.org/legal/ai). ------------- Commit messages: - Require Linux (the test fails on Mac) - Add tests - Remove outdated comment - Allow binding to 127.x.x.255 addresses Changes: https://git.openjdk.org/jdk/pull/33378/files Webrev: https://webrevs.openjdk.org/?repo=jdk&pr=33378&range=00 Issue: https://bugs.openjdk.org/browse/JDK-8394580 Stats: 125 lines in 3 files changed: 108 ins; 17 del; 0 mod Patch: https://git.openjdk.org/jdk/pull/33378.diff Fetch: git fetch https://git.openjdk.org/jdk.git pull/33378/head:pull/33378 PR: https://git.openjdk.org/jdk/pull/33378
