I have just tried you suggestion. Other than doing a stupid thing where I now have to reorganise about 2000 messages and many duplicated, it also doesn't work.

I cannot autocomplete over those directories. Even with `sep = /`, and manually checking that it is indeed laid out in that way.

Any other suggestions?

If you don't care for the dots, just replace them. If I understand you
correctly this solves your problem.  Your system should provide
offlineimap.conf somewhere. Relevant info:


[Repository LocalExample]

# You can specify the "path separator character" used for your Maildir

# It defaults to ".".  If you want your Maildir folders to be nested,

sep = .
