The problem arises at those times when you have to access gmail though
its webmail interface (example, using a client's computer) and would
like to see sent mail and received mail threaded together.

I don't even use Mutt, Patrick, or at least I don't use Mutt yet. I will
use Mutt in the future if it supports the maildir architecture &
protocol - to make that determination is the primary reason why I lurk
here. I will be running a Linux Mint (with networking) virtual machine
in a Win7 (without networking) host. The Linux command line doesn't
bother me, but awful Linux documentation does. I know you don't think
it's awful, but it is - it discourages many people even trying Linux.
