| I've used both MacPorts and fink (mostly macports), but ended up using
| HomeBrew [1] as my primary source of software on the Mac. Something to

| They have a "Brew" for mutt which is 1.5.21, and (for the roll-yer-own
| types such as myself) all the requisites to build mutt from source.

We should point out to Jim that these are all independent. He can
install the lot, and pick and choose. Personally I recommend he does.
One size never fits all:-)

I do like the install approach brew uses - I used the type of same scheme
myself at a former workplace to build third party packages for the
workstations there:

Lister: `Mr Arnold' isn't even his name. His name's `Rimmer'; or `Smeghead';
    or `Dinosaur breath'; or `Molecule Mind'. And if you want to be really
    mega-polite to him, Kryten -- we're talking mega-mega-polite -- on those
    rare and exceptional circumstances, you can call him `Arsehole'.
