It is suggested not to archive posts with such a header set but you can't really rely on it. > Is this bad practice to use by default in emails etc? I found out that this group is piped into usenet (by replacing headers like message-id and such). So, I haven't tried if 'they' stop doing so if you set it. Anyways, there're so much useless headers that this one doesn't count. > 2. Do many people use a fake email address from? There's no reason to use faked mail addresses. > 3. Is the above (point 2) is true, then is there any worth > in using your pgp(gpg) signature in emails to lists such > as this one? (since [EMAIL PROTECTED] won't be the same as my > pgp key?) Don't do it. Many Usenet providers have special terms of usage. With some you're not allowed to use an invalid mail address. Furthermore it's a requirement to post articles with a valid reply address. You can just use a dummy account in your From: header and your real address in 'Reply-To'. Bots searching for mail addresses would have to generate to much traffic to parse Usenet posts. Instead, the just ask a server for the group overview. And that overview doesn't list Reply-To but only From. Cheers, Rocco
