Hi Jim, Sorry I didn't reply to the list earlier (only mailing you privately!). Still getting used to this muttly beast of a mail client ;) On Mon, May 13, 2002 at 07:27:51PM -0700, Jim Osborn wrote: > On Sun, May 12, 2002 at 07:24:57PM -0700, I wrote: > > I want to use Control-H to move the cursor to the left in Mutt's > > line editor, as I have it in all my other tools. > > The sole response I've had to this question was from someone who > thought I was referring to the editor used to write the content of > a piece of mail, in his case vi. Yup that was me, I only half understood what you meant...

What type of terminal/console are you using? If I understand you correctly, you mean that when you type something like: :set bleh=<backspace> in the line editor in mutt, it comes out as: :set bleh=^H ??? Or not? If you do mean this, I had similar problems in various applications whilst using Putty in a ssh session. For example in 'vi' when in line editor mode I couldn't delete backwards correctly - the backspace key producing '^H' instead of deleting the char to the left of the cursor. I fixed this by changing the keyboard settings for the current putty session (an option exists to map the backspace key to '^H') and all was fine. If however you're not talking about using something like putty or another terminal emulator, fraid I can't help - never used a dumb terminal... Perhaps some more info about what system you're using might help. Best Regards, Jez -- http://munkboxen.mine.nu - FreeBSD network http://www.freebsd.org
