That's why %d is being passed to the script: mutt % doesn't know what date, because mutt doesn't know what message. % % As far as I know, it's not actually possible to pass the date to the % script because the script is run when mutt starts, not for every % message. *If* you can pass %d at all (and I don't know that you can), then you might look at a send-hook and wrapping your command in single quotes ('') instead of double quotes ("") to protect the contents from evaluation until calling time.
