i have heard that becky! is pretty good and can read PGP/Mime i think,
at least with a plugin (and it has integrated regular PGP support).  i
downloaded the trial version on a 'doze machine at work, although i
haven't used it much.  the builtin editor is pretty cool too.  however
it's not free (and for that matter it seems to be difficult to pay for
it even if you wanted to)...

i usually just do pgp/mime since on the rare occasions i sign or encrypt
mails i usually do it to people who don't use outlook. i agree that it
should be a bit easier to clearsign messages in mutt... although
PGP/Mime is the "right" way.

building .debs isn't too hard. but it's probably easier to uninstall the
debian package and just build your own... that's what i usually do.

looks like the patch is already in the .deb for woody / sid so you
should be all set:

does doing :set pgp_outlook_compat? or whatever the option is work? is
the option mentioned in the muttrc (5) man page?  i build from source on
my mail machine, but on a woody machine at work the pgp_outlook_compat
option is mentioned already.
