There's a significant improvement that could be made on this situation: sometimes, there's a message with References: that go back all the way to a message thta you have, and another message that refers to some other reference on that list of references between two existing messages. I know how to fix this, but it will take some work (and will require not getting distracted by the desire to ream out all the other filth that has accrued in thread.c over my long absence.) However, I have some time now to work on this, and plan to do so soon (though I'll be moving in the next week, so that will dilute my attention a bit.) -Daniel -- Daniel E.
