Here in Spain, 2$/hour (approx) from 8:00 to 22:00, 0.8$/hour (approx)
from 22:00 to 8:00. Do the math.
Phone costs in Europe are *high*. Very high, if we compare it to US
costs (which I don't really know, but must be amazingly low by the things people
tell :-)). Besides, in Spain *one* company has the practical 99% of the market;
that makes it very difficult to get costs lower. In fact, day costs *doubled*
last summer, from 1$/hour to the actual 2$/hour.
Cable is still a very new thing. It's only working in a few big cities,
though it's supposed to be available to the most of the country real soon, 2 or
3 years I guess. Anyway, I live in a little village of about 500 inhabitants;
cable won't reach us very soon. Costs are similar to what Axel says, 50$/month.
