Strange. The default $quote_regexp is: "^([ \t]*[>|#:}])+".
But perhaps you have my $quote_regexp:
set quote_regexp="^(>[^F]|>F[^r]|>Fr[^o]|>Fro[^m]|[A-Za-z]+> )"
