Actually mutt has some special features for handling mailing lists.
Have a look at the 'lists' configuration command. It allows you to
specify which addresses are list addresses. There is a link in that
section of the manual that tkaes you to a section on 'handling mailing
lists'. This explains just what you can do with a list once yu have
defined it to mutt.
