I've discovered an option in my editor that allows it to skip the use of the
top N lines of the screen. However, when I use this feature to compose a
mail message, what's displayed on the top of the screen is whatever was
there before.

Of course, if I type something, save-and-exit my editor, then press 'e',
then I get to see the headers that remind me of my context.

Actually the documentation seems to be incorrect. It sez that the Compose
menu is displayed, then later the editor is launched, and after the editor
completes, the compose menu re-displays. It's more correct to say that the
editor is launched, and when it completes, the compose menu is displayed.
Or am I missing something???

If I'm missing nothing, then a documentation fix would be in order. I would
probably also argue in that case for a new variable:

compose_show_headers

  Type: boolean
  Default: unset

When set, Mutt will display the compose menu before launching your editor
when composing a message. Your editor may have an option for skipping the
use of the top N lines of the screen, so that you can see the compose menu
  during text editing.

While I'm in feedback mode, I think a case could be argued for displaying
the first partial screenful of a single-attachment message when
re-displaying the compose screen. Of course, with multiple attachments, the
current menuing behavior is probably more correct. But then, the first
scenario is _far_ more important to me.

Comments appreciated.
