Hello everybody,

by this email I'd like to open discussion about the future of the mutt
project. From year to year we can witness a small, but certain decline
in the overall mutt project vitality. This is in direct contrast with
the user-base which is (according to tickets and mailing lists) both
quite active and interested.

I came up with several thoughts I want to bring forward.

1) The following question is expected to be answered by the current mutt
project maintainers/developers. Are you feeling you have enough
resources (individuals, time, equipment...) for continuing the
development & maintenance of mutt together with recovering from the
current approach of slow-dying? If not, are you willing to let volunteer
users to take over?

2) I'd like to challenge everyone interested/involved to clearly mention
anything which she/he considers relevant to this rather
slow-down-more-and-more principle of maintenance/development of the mutt
project.

This discussion is intended to show the disposition of the current mutt
developers and power users with emphasis on gathering ideas for
significant improvement in the mutt project life.

The ultimate goal would be, after proper aggregation of the discussion
content, to decide _how_ to maintain and develop mutt from now on, seen
from the less-technical perspective (i.e. focused on the project team
membership, rules etc.).

Feel free to react without any concerns.

Kind regards
