Hi,

If you use Joint stereo, the quality will be better with slightly more
compression.

Resampling will not cause any problem, if you enable it, if your input
stream is
no 48 KHz, it will be made so..only computational cost matter.

regards,
Mohan

Subject: [mp3encoder] Best quality LAME settings

Hi all
This is Chaitanya, I am from India.
I have a MP3 system and I require to convert normal audio files (.wav) to
MP3.
I am pretty new to LAME and I need your advice in forming the best settings
for my MP3 files.
I am presently using the following options:
 For high quality files:
lame -m j -q 0 -v -V 0 --preset extreme --resample 48 -T -c -p --brief
For my MP3 personal audio system:
lame -m j -q 0 -v -V 0 -B 80 --resample 48 -T -c -p --brief
As you can see I have absolutely no regard for file size and just have to
get the absolute quality.
I am worried about some specific things:
 - Should I be using Joint-Stereo or Stereo?
- Does resampling to 48 cause any problems?
- Do I have to learn about ATH, PSY, frequency filters like lowpass,
highpass [Dont know what these mean anyway :)] and other advanced features?
Is there any place that details everything about LAME, each and every bit
of its settings and options?
I would very much like to get a grip of this wonderful tool ...
Thanks from the bottom of my heart for any help provided ...
 Regards
Chaitanya
