This was not very discoverable, and required extra effort for the still
common 'reply all' scenario, for which most popular MUAs have a
separate button.

I like this fine, but then I participated in the 4.5 mail design...

Not sure why, if News also has both. (btw, we referred to this movement
as menu or button "boogie")

There was very strong resistance to reply-all for News really mean
"all", I don't recall the details, but if nobody else does I might
still be able to look it up.
