I have written a channel splitter available on my yuvtools page http://silicontrip.net/~mark/lavtools/ called yuvdiag. It's a bit of a hack job, but it shows the U and V channels in the luma channel. You might find this useful to do noise diagnostics. It also has a rudimentary chroma and luma scopes, which I would like to add axis information to. I wouldn't mind adding more diagnostic features, if anyone has any suggestions.
